In the days of Upper Canada, a commissary was a store where officers, soldiers, and their families could purchase food, supplies and other items they might require.  Traditionally, a commissary would feature locally produced crops and products that met a high standard of quality. The British commissaries in Upper Canada we the driving force to help local food producers grow and prosper in the new world.

Today, General Brock’s Commissary continues that tradition by stocking the store exclusively with locally produced products from Upper and Lower Canada. Our customers can enjoy a beautiful storefront inspired by the style and shopping experience of a bygone era.

Named in honour of General Sir Isaac Brock The Hero of Upper Canada, the store is located at 86 Brock Street in historic Downtown Kingston Ontario – just steps away from the city’s original commissary.
